CURRENT STATUS – Smoke covered the area of the fire most of the day. It lifted enough in the afternoon to allow a Sky Crane Helicopter to cool down the fires edge, located within the containment lines, as well as pretreat containment lines as needed. The fire crept and smoldered, expanding a little over 50 acres. Firefighters mopped up perimeters of containment lines and monitored the incident through the night, due to erratic winds the fire saw an uptick in fire behavior. Some rain fell, but it was not a consistent, wetting rain.
WEATHER – Weather will be cooler with some higher relative humidity. A threat of thunderstorms will continue throughout the day. Thunderstorms will be capable of heavy rainfall, lightning and gusty outflow winds.
CLOSURES – The Ravalli County Sheriff's Office has established a roadblock on East Fork Road at Meadow Creek in response to increased fire danger and suppression efforts. Residential traffic above Meadow Creek will be allowed to their properties with a residential pass. The passes will be issued at the roadblock. Residents must bring ID and proof of residency or ownership to have a pass issued. A driver's license with a physical address in the closure area is sufficient proof. Otherwise, a photo ID and some other proof of property ownership will be required.
Under 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50 (a) and (b), the Forest Service has closed roads and trails surrounding the fire. For more information: https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/bitterroot/alerts-notices/?aid=90311
