**RED FLAG WARNING ISSUED FOR HIGH WINDS STARTING AT NOON**

Yesterday, a storm cell centered over the southeastern area of the fire. Winds up to 45 m.p.h. were experienced, with directions changing nine times, causing an approximately 800 acre slopover.  Crews gathered, along with heavy equipment, and were able to get a line around it that evening. At least one lightning strike was recorded in the Bullion Canyon area.  Air operations were temporarily shut down during the high winds, but resumed later in the day. Power was again turned off in Bullion Canyon, however there were no power interruptions for customers in the surrounding area and to the south. The northeastern corner of the fire has been mopped and new containment is anticipated soon.

Crews will continue line construction on the northern part of the fire, prepping for future firing operations. Hoselays are being placed to aid in the anticipated mopup that will be needed in the coming days.  Scouting for firelines continues in the western perimeter of the fire in an effort to keep the fire from going over the ridgelines to the west.

The Incident Meteorologist (IMET) has predicted increasing moisture into the weekend. With the anticipated moist conditions are possible dry lightning and particularly erratic winds that prompted the NOAA Weather service to issue a Red Flag Warning. Conditions experienced on Friday are expected again, but prevailing winds are still coming from the South, pushing smoke into Richfield and Salina. Smoke conditions are likely to increase to unhealthy levels. New fire starts are possible with the dry lightning. The IMET predicts some showers may occur, but may be isolated.

The Fishlake National Forest has issued a closure order that can be found here: https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/fishlake/alerts-notices.  The Castle Rock Campground remains open.
