Greens Draw Road Reopens as Work Concludes on Contingency Line 08-29-2024

Greens Draw Road Reopens as Work Concludes on Contingency Line All routes previously closed due to the Speirs Fire have reopened for public use. This includes the Greens Draw Road (Forest Service Road 049). Work on the contingency line has finished and construction crews have now left the area.

Firefighting resources have completed a 'test fire' to ensure they are within in the proper conditions to initiate firing operations. For the rest of the afternoon, smoke will be visible over the incident as crews clean up down and dead material and strengthen the containment lines on the northern edge of the fire.

Firefighting resources are conducting a firing operation along the perimeter in the southern portion of the fire. The intent of this operation is to cleanup unburned fuel (grass, brush, and down material) along the edge of the fire’s perimeter to help strengthen containment lines.
Complex Incident Management Team shadowing local Type 3 team 07-16-2024

Today, the Great Basin Complex Incident Management Team (CIMT) 3 was provided an in briefing from the Ashley National Forest and is currently shadowing the local Type 3 Incident Management Team. This "shadowing" will last the rest of the day and then Great Basin Team 3 will take over management of the Speirs Fire at 6:00 AM on Wednesday, July 17th.
