Nearly every day, the fire IMET (incident meteorologist) will release a weather balloon from the incident command post. The instrument attached records data from the atmosphere including temperature, humidity, wind and pressure. This information helps determine how our fire may behave. This information is then transferred to the ground by GPS satellites. Yesterday, our balloon reached nearly 81,000 feet!
