The Wapiti Fire closure area, surrounding Grandjean, is being expanded to the north and east, including portions of the Sawtooth National Forest and Salmon-Challis National Forest. This closure includes both sides of Hwy. 21 going north along Canyon Creek, and along the south side of highway as it continues from Banner Summit towards Stanley. This new closure becomes effective Aug. 22 at 6 p.m.
These area closures only pertain to Forest Service lands. For highway closures, including Hwy. 21 and Banks-Lowman (Hwy. 17), consult the Boise County Sheriff's Office for the latest information.
