Unmanned Aerial Systems (drones) are used for gathering fire information like acreages, but can also be used for conducting strategic firing operations. This is done by dropping plastic spheres that ignite the areas intended for burnout.

Hose lays are installed along constructed firelines so firefighters can use them to slow fire spread, cool the edge, and conduct mop-up operations.
